Circa Vitae is a cross-genre experiment in the manipulation of perspective; the potency of their songs transcends levels of musical expression commonly exhibited in today’s popular songwriting. Songs such as Tower wash over the listener, effortlessly teasing them to “play pretend,” whereas the dark resonance of Stranger makes one feel as alienated as they ever have in their life… and comfortable with it. Circa Vitae’s music portrays life as a road relentlessly walked.
Today I went to the Jamendo blog where they have posted some excellent playlists. On playlist #3 I struck gold (also check out the hip-hop in playlist #4). Circa Vitae is a band that's hard to categorize.
They possess an experimental Radiohead sound, and seem to mix that with a college rock vibe. Circa Vitae released their CIRCA VITAE ep in December, and I recommend you download a copy. My favorite track on the album is "Pterodactyl", I also like "Tower." Male vocalist Britt and female vocalist Anna have a beautiful, contrasting sound over powerfull lyrics. The EP also sports transition tracks that mix a noise/classical sound. This EP is likely unlike anything you have ever heard, and a worthy add to any collection.

This is one of the most original albums I have run across on Jamendo and it's form my hometown! I was attracted to this by the album cover as I am quite a fan of elephants apparently I am now also a fan of Circa Vitae. I also just realized that I think I saw you guys at the Wow Hall in the summer. It's funny because when I was listening to the album I was thinking that the band sounded like they were from Eugene (don't ask me how to explain why I thought that).
Now about what the music sounds like:Alternative guitar rock would be the best way I could describe it. Someone compared this to Radiohead and where I can understand the comparison I also hear Mars Volta and Sonic Youth. It also reminds me a bit of more experimental bands like Pink Floyd and Sleepy Time Gorilla Museum. Over all it's a great piece of work and I've still kind of in shock that you guys are from Eugene, I guess there is music that I like in this town after all. Keep up the great work guys.
