Bio

CIRCA VITAE is a diverse band that draws from many influences that include indie, experimental, and art rock. On the other hand, their songs are catchy enough to have pop qualities and edgy enough to hint at punk rock inspiration.

With the release of the self-titled EP in December of 2008, and the reputation of energetic live performances, CIRCA VITAE is generating a buzz in their hometown of Eugene and internationally.

With all five members hailing from different musical backgrounds, the collaboration of their efforts brings forth a plethora of human experience and emotion in the form of music. Britt Brady and Wesley Curtis, both on guitar, experiment with melodic noise washes and effects-driven riffs. The sound gains drive and energy with the dynamic rhythms of Thaddeus Moore on drums and prominent bass lines of Nate Beveridge. Ethereal vocal styling and multi-instrumental talent (violin, keys, and guitar) are served up by Anna Ponto, who joins Brady's wide vocal range and diverse style.

Circa Vitae uses music as a medium to transport listeners to common ground, a place where we all endure love, joy, alienation and suffering together. Awareness, humility and freedom of expression resonate through their music. The members of Circa Vitae create a soundscape laden with the full spectrum of human emotion, powered by internal fire.

CIRCA VITAE translates to “About Life”.

Britt Brady (vocals, guitar) is a songwriter/sound creator/chef born and raised in central Illinois. He first began playing music at 13, inspired by Nirvana. He loves the electronic aspects of music production and general vocal oddity. In addition to his love of music he is immersed in thoughts of; space, UFO's, spirituality, cooking, the human mind, psychedelia, rum, movies, and his perpetual attempts to quit smoking.  Britt plans to stay in Oregon and continue making records.
Anna Ponto (Vocals, Violin) comes from a supportive family of musicians. Her first passion was visual arts which has worked to mold her left brain into the collaborative music making machine it is. She is a trained violinist who never had the discipline to stick with the competition-driven world of classical performance. She has found a niche exploring the freedoms of writing original pieces with other like-minded musicians and friends. Future plans involve a move to Portland, OR where she will fight to maintain her musical non-career while attending the Aveda Institute to obtain her cosmetology license. She loves to paint, play video games, and maintain a semi-reclusive life when she isn't out partying like a rock star with her band mates.
Thaddeus Moore (Drums) has been trying to play the drums for 15 years.  He is an audio engineer, a freelance album producer, and runs the recording studio Sprout City Studios.  He is very influenced by the effects of music on the brain. There is no type of music that he doesn't find interesting and or influential. "If it's good, I like it... If it's bad, I don't."  He loves finding new ways to explore our universe and hot tubs. He has been looking for a group of musicians with whom he can effect positive change and bring awareness of something greater than our ego and a single lifetime. Circa Vitae is that band.
Wesley Curtis, (Guitar) is a contemporary musician/ songwriter born, raised, and currently living in Eugene, Oregon. Most of his favorite records were recorded to analog tape in the 1960's and 70's. Currently majoring in Environmental Studies at the University of Oregon, he has found the academic atmosphere to be tremendously inspiring and financial aid checks a fantastic way to buy new gear. He is also a photographer who has been doing landscape photography using 35mm film for over 5 years. He also heads the band "Ineffectuals". Recently expanding his repertoire by shooting musicians/bands like Black Francis (Pixies), Eric Drew Feldman, and Art Brut. Wesley hopes to one day make a living producing, writing, and scoring films. More than anything he enjoys backpacking, camping, and experiencing nature.
Nate Beveridge (Bass) is a bass player and all around musically oriented human from Eugene, Oregon. He has a very technical outlook on life, and is obsessed with electronics and the tools needed to produce the music he loves. In addition to building his own amplification circuits, he is also very good at repairing anything powered by electricity. He started playing bass while in middle school, and at that same time, he began listening to punk bands because of how dominant and up-front he found the bass guitar to be. While he no longer has the desire to play that genre of music, he retains the pursuit of the tonal qualities from the bass in those bands. On the flip side of things, he spends most of his free time outdoors, and is constantly trying to remove himself from any sign of civilized life. Backpacking deep into the cascade mountain range alone is his most beloved escape, and provides a kind of spiritual healing for him. Nate loves fire, personal exploration, motorcycles, fly fishing, and fresh air.
